Free Crochet Pattern for Stunning Fall Winter Coat

Hello darlings in the first week of October.

Oh…well… I guess by now you became accustomed with the idea of fall :) I kinda did.

Since the beautiful earth colors that fall brings make somebody like me feel the need for warm and fuzzy feel of a crocheted coat I started looking for something stunning enough to wear without lining these two months of fall.

When I found this stunning crochet fall - winter coat it suddenly hit me that with the proper lining this can be turned into a winter coat for those of you living in a more temperate climate.

I fell in love with the practical display motif and even more with permissive crochet stitches insertion that allow you to play with the size.

Without further ado here comes a simple but stunning pattern for a spectacular looking fall –winter coat.

1. Yarn: wool blend semi worsted, bulky. 2 colors of your choice
2. Hook: 7-8 mm hook
3. Tapestry needle ( you will need it)

      

Pattern:

Round motif 1

1. Ch5, sl st to join
2. Ch3, 15 dc in the ring,sl st to join
3. Ch5, 1dc, *ch2 1dc*, repeat ** , sl st to join
4. Sl st to the ch space, ch3 2dc ch1, *3dc in the next ch space ch1* repeat ** slst to join
5. Ch3, 1sc ( in the 1ch space),*ch3 1sc*, repeat ** sl st to join.

Done 

 Round motif 2 ( blue 3dctog)

1. Ch5, sl st to join
2. Ch3, 15 dc in the ring,sl st to join
3. Ch5, 1dc, *ch2 1dc*, repeat ** , sl st to join
4. Sl st to the ch space, ch3 2dctog ch3, *3dc tog in the next ch space ch3* repeat ** slst to join.
5. Ch3, 1sc ( in the 3ch space),*ch3 1sc*, repeat ** sl st to join

Done

Star motif ( it is worked so it will join the round motifs)

1.     Ch5, sl st to join

2.     12 sc in the ring

3.     Ch6 , 1 sc in a ch space of the 1^st  round motif, 1sc in a ch space of the 2^nd motif, ch 6, 1sc

4.     Ch4 ,1sc in the next ch space of the 1^st  motif,ch4, 1sc

5.     Ch4 ,1sc in the next ch space of the 1^st motif,ch4, 1sc

6.     Ch6 , 1 sc in the next ch space of 1^st  round motif, 1sc in a ch space of a 3^rd  motif, ch 6, 1sc

7.     Ch4 ,1sc in the next ch space of the 3^rd  motif,ch4, 1sc

8.     Ch4 ,1sc in the next ch space of the 3^rd  motif,ch4, 1sc

9.     Ch6 , 1 sc in the next ch space of 3^rd  round motif, 1sc in a ch space of a 4^th   motif, ch 6, 1sc

10.  Ch4 ,1sc in the next ch space of the 4^th  motif,ch4, 1sc

11.  Ch4 ,1sc in the next ch space of the 4^th  motif,ch4, 1sc

12.  Ch6 , 1 sc in the next ch space of 4^th  round motif, 1sc in a ch space of a 2^nd motif, ch 6, 1sc

13.  Ch4 ,1sc in the next ch space of the 2^nd  motif,ch4, 1sc

14.  Ch4 ,1sc in the next ch space of the 2^nd motif,ch4, 1sc

Star motif done.

As a result you have linked 4 round motifs , 2 of each type.

The same principle applies in the case of half star motifs and quarter star motifs.

Follow the chart display for motif setting.

Crochet bands:

Use as base ch the join motifs:

1.     Ch3, *3dc in the next 3 stitches, ch 1*  repeat ** till the end of the row. Turn

2.     Ch4 , 1dc ch1, *1dc ch1*, repeat ** till the end of the row.

These are the bands inserted in the between the front panels and back , starting from the shoulder line.

Collar band

Work the collar after you have completed the coat.

1.     Ch3, 1dc in every loop from the hook.

2.     Ch 3, *2fpdc in the next 2 loops, 2bpdc in the next 2 loops* …repeat ** till the end of the row, turn

3.     Ch3, *2bpdc in the next 2 loops, 2fpdc* in the next 2 loops, repeat ** till the end of the row, turn.

4.     Repeat 2 and 3 until you reach the desired height . Use slst to close.

And this is about it , darlings.

 Here you have the chance to make yourself a stunning looking coat.

 Whichever option ( fall or winter)you choose keep in mind that a motif jacket has a huge visual impact on the view of the beholder and it is a huge trend this fall.
