Hello Darlings !
Join me in saying” Welcome Dear Spring!”
Yes, I am happy because spring is finally here. It’s time to
check out the trends and crochet lacy tops to layer over the boudoir style cami
dresses and spaghetti straps tops.
But…until we discuss the adult approach of this particular
chart based pattern I must mention that
I am very fond of the child ( toddler to school age) version of this versatile
top.
I am planning to start this top for my little 4 year old in
a related color. She will wear it over a summer dress, or a tank top , or even
on top of a fitted shirt with skinny jeans ( Yes I have a miniature fashionista
on my hands)
So …about the adult version.
I would personally like one green for myself with a larger neck opening
, more loose fit to match that “cold shoulder “ trend we see all over the
streets this spring.
So without further
talk:
Credits: charts from Japanese magazine( no English or any
other language available), the finished item in pictures belongs to “Because of
love” biazeng .com , user.
So here is how I would make it:
Yarn: cotton, viscose cotton mix, microfiber, viscose, -
medium
Hook: 3 mm -3,5 mm
Back:
1.Chain the required length ( multiple of 3 + 1) ( use an
existing blouse to measure against)
2. *Ch 3,sk 3,1sc in the next stitch *…repeat till the end
of the row.
3.Ch5,1sc in the first ch 3 space ( work the sc in the
middle stitch), *ch3 1sc in the next ch space*…repeat ** till the end of the
row, finish by ch2 and 1dc in the last stitch .
4. Ch 2, sk one ch 3 space, 3 trc tog( trc cluster) ch2
,3trc tog,ch2,3trc tog ,ch2,3trc tog in the next ch 3 space,*ch 3 -sk one ch3
space- 1 sc in the next ch 3 space,ch3 ,3 trc tog( trc cluster) ch2 ,3trc
tog,ch2,3trc tog ,ch2,3trc tog in the next ch 3 space*... repeat ** till the
end of the row. ( this is the row with “flower” finish from the chart.
5. Ch6 1 sc in the first ch2 space( between the flower
petals),ch3 1 sc in the next ch space,ch3,1sc in the next ch space, ch 5 1sc in
the next ch2 space (between the flower petals), *ch3 1 sc in the next ch
space,ch3,1sc in the next ch space, ch3,1sc in the next ch space, ch 5 1sc in
the next ch2 space (between the flower petals)*…repeat ** till the end of the
row , 1tr crochet in the last stitch from the row below.
6.ch1, ch4,1sc in next space, ch3 1sc in the next space,ch3
1sc in the next space, * ch4 1 sc in the 5ch space ,ch4 1sc in the next space, ch3
1sc in the next space, ch3 1sc in the next space*…repeat ** till the end of the
row…finish with ch4 and 1 sc crochet.
7. Ch6,1sc in next ch space,*ch3 ,1sc in the next space*…repeat
** till the end of the row.
Repeat sequence 4 to
7 until reaching required length for underarm decrease.
Decrease:
Slip stitch on top of the chain clusters ( 2 to 6 ch
clusters depending on your measurement – I am size 38 European so I’ll skip 4).
Work the *flower* row and stop between the same number of ch clusters on the
other side.
Continue working the sequence until shaping the neck opening
( 2 -3 more sequences)
To shape the neck opening
-work a flower on each edge(shoulders)
and slst for the middle section of the back .
This is how you should read the chart for the back.
Here comes the challenge 1: following the exact same
sequence follow the front chart and work it the exact same way ( shape the neck
opening as you desire- the chart offers a wide neck opening while the finished piece
follows the same neck opening for the front as for the back).
Challenge 2:
When you have the chart ( diagram) stitches explained all
you need is follow the chart.
So using the same sequence work the sleeves ( the chart is
pretty exact).
Join the back and the front using a tapestry needle.
Add the sleeves.
Finish the garment working 2 rows of hdc on the neck opening and sleeve cuffs.
The top is done J
Yes , this is not a complete pattern…but a lesson on how to
work a crochet piece using a comprehensive chart.
The purpose of this blog remains the same : teaching you to
crochet the easiest way possible using any source available to create
remarkable pieces that will be trendy forever.
I hope you like this post and consider applying this lesson
to create a stunning lacy top for this spring.
